The aim of the challenge is to raise awareness as well as donations for a very worthwhile cause.
This year we are working with The John Van Geest Cance Research Center.
Participants will be swimming 5K in Lake Windermere on the Thursday evening, then biking for a short while to their first Youth Hostel in Ingelton. Friday will be the big bike day where we will tackle 90miles over some tasty climbs to get us to Hathersage. After a good nights sleep and feed we will bike from Hathersage to Nottingham, approx 60 miles. Finally, the Windies will compelte there challenge by undertaking the Ikona Bank Robin Hood Marathon on the Sunday. (This may be a run/walk/shuffle after all those bike miles - but this team will do it!!).
So this year the Challenge is full and participants are in the thick of some heavy training. (Please take time to have a look at our facebook page to see how we are doing www.facebook.com/Windylongone).
And so to 2018... if you are interested in taking a Windy Challenge for yourself - or have a group of people in mind then please get in touch firstname.lastname@example.org or 07979188997. Your Windy Challenge does not have to be in the same locations as this years, but needs to follow the same format of swim/bike and run over 3-4 days - for it to be Windy and Long!
